Live-in care is where a trained carer lives in your home with you, providing one-to-one support day and night. It means you can stay in the home and community you love rather than moving into a care home, with care built around your routines, needs and preferences.
ChangedH1 and strapline kept as they are on the live page. New Trustpilot trust bar on the hero, with the existing call and callback buttons restyled into the phone and 'Contact us' buttons, so the rating and contact options are visible without scrolling. New short intro answers 'what is live-in care' straight under the H1.

How do you find the right live in carer?
SameAll of our live-in carers are carefully selected for their kindness, compassion, patience, and empathy. Your local Care Manager will take the time to understand your needs, preferences, and personality before carefully matching you with the carer they believe is the best fit. We'll share your carer's profile with you before care begins.
We directly employ and train all our professional carers to the trusted Helping Hands standard. Our carers are also supported by a team of specialist nurses. Find out more about our live-in carers.

Why do people choose live in care?
SameMost people choose live-in care because they need ongoing practical support to continue to live in the home they love. For families, especially for those that live some distance away, live-in care provides peace of mind that a loved one has the help they need. There is also the added reassurance that a carer can help to maintain overall wellbeing, day to day.

Benefits of live-in care
NewDraft copy for Content to finalise
- One-to-one support from a carer who is there just for you
- Stay in your own home, with your pets, garden and belongings around you
- A consistent carer who gets to know your routines and preferences
- Couples can be cared for together in their own home
- Family and friends can visit whenever they like
- Peace of mind for relatives who live some distance away
NewNew section, as recommended. Every point is taken from claims already made elsewhere on this page. Content should keep it outcome-focused so it does not repeat 'Why do people choose live in care?' directly above; merging the two is an option if it feels repetitive.

NewDraft copy for Content to finalise
Live-in care may suit you if:

- You are finding it hard to stay safe at home on your own

NewNew section, as recommended. Helps people who are still deciding between types of care, and links them sideways to visiting and complex care rather than losing them.

What's included in live in care?
SameLive-in care is completely tailored to you, your needs and preferences. These needs might include help with personal care, household chores or meal preparation to helping you get out and about to enjoy hobbies, visit the shops or take a day trip.
Alternatively, you may have more complex care needs and require help with management of a catheter or stoma or need support because you're living with dementia or cancer.

Live in care FAQs
SameHow quickly can live-in care be arranged?
Once you've completed your free assessment and your care plan is in place, we'll aim to get the ball rolling quickly. In the case of an emergency, we aim to have a carer with you in as little as 24 hours. But before any of that, there's always a conversation first so we can take the time to understand what you need, how you like things done, and what matters most to you. We're not simply sending someone to your door; we're finding the right person for you.
Will I have the same carer all the time?
With live-in care, you'll have a consistent carer who gets to know you, your routines, your preferences, the way you like your day to run. That continuity and companionship matters, and it's central to how we work. We also know that carers do need rest breaks, and when those arise, we carefully find a suitable cover carer who's the right fit, rather than simply sending whoever is available.
How do you match a carer to me?
Your local care manager takes the time to really understand you, your needs, your personality, your interests, and the things that matter to you day to day. From there, they'll suggest a number of carers they believe could be a good match. You'll have a say in the decision. Because great care relies on finding someone who feels right for you, not just someone who ticks the boxes.
What happens in a medical emergency?
Your carer will stay by your side. They're carefully trained to respond quickly, call for the right help, and remain present and calm until emergency services arrive or you're safe. You won't be left on your own, that's something we take very seriously. Your health is always our priority.
How do you train your carers?
All our carers are directly employed and trained by Helping Hands, so we never use agency staff. Every carer is fully DBS-checked and reference-checked before they begin, and fully trained and supported. We're proud of our training programme and the standards it upholds. We also have a specialist nursing team who train carers in more complex procedures, such as catheter or stoma management, so skilled, attentive support doesn't stop at the front door.
What if my carer is unexpectedly unwell and can't come?
We'll arrange cover so there's no gap in your care. It's one of the practical benefits of choosing a fully regulated provider, there's a dedicated team behind your carer, ready to step in when it's needed. You can rely on us to make sure your care continues, without you having to worry. We have plenty of qualified, experienced and compassionate carers ready to step in if your regular carer can't make it.
How do carers get into my home if I can't answer the door?
This is something we agree with you during your care assessment, well before care begins. Usually it's a key safe or a spare key held securely, whichever you're most comfortable with. The arrangement is put in place in advance, so everything feels settled and straightforward from day one.
How often is care reviewed, and can we make changes?
Your care plan isn't fixed because we know that your needs can shift gradually over time, or change more quickly following a health change or hospital stay. We keep in regular touch, and if something isn't working or circumstances change, you can call us and we'll adapt things accordingly.
Do you provide live-in care on weekends and bank holidays?
Yes. Live-in care doesn't pause for weekends or bank holidays. Your carer will be with you and our office-based team is reachable seven days a week. Our phone lines are open Monday to Friday 8am to 7pm and Saturday to Sunday 9am to 5.30pm, and our Live Chat is available seven days a week, so there's always someone here if you need us.
How do I arrange live-in care with Helping Hands?
Firstly, get in touch with us and we'll reassure you that you've come to the right place. From there, a local care manager will visit you at home for a free, unhurried assessment. Once you've agreed a care plan together, things can move quickly. Most people find the process far simpler than they expected. We'll be happy to walk you through every step.
